
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of dhal (soak at least 30 mins) drain and dried
- 1 large onions (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (chopped)
- 1.5 slice of ginger (shredded)
- 2 cups of water
- 2 large tomatoes (quartered)
- 1tsp cumin
- 1tsp Thalipu
- 3-4 dried chilli (roughtly broken into few pieces)
- 4 tsbp ghee/butter (or lesser)
- salt to taste
- 1tsp turmeric
- Potatoes (Optional)
Method
- Clean, wash and drain lentils (Dhal)
- Put into deep pan with 2 cups of water or lesser, garlic, ginger, salt, turmeric, cumins, thalipu and etc and simmer till lentil (dhal) is soft
- In a small work heat the butter/ghee
- Fry till onions are golden
- When onions are golden, add in tomatoes, fry for few mins, then add the cooked lentils (dhal) and let it simmer for about 5 mins.
- Served with Thosai/Dosa/Chappati/Roti Canai
