Ingredients
- 100 gm ikan bilis (anchovies)
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 bombay onion
- 2 tbsp of chili paste (blend using cili kering)
- 2 tbsp asam jawa juice
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp of water
- 6 kaffir leaves (slice) (daun limau purut)
- Add in ikan bilis cube stocks if you prefer more delicious taste (I omit this)
To pound
- 5 shallots
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 stalk lemon grass (serai in malay) (slice)
- 1/2 tsp belacan
Method
- Heat oil in wok, saute pounded ingredients, add chili paste, belacan stir till aromatic.
- Add in ikan bilis and big onions, daun limau purut and mix well.
- Add lime juice, water.
- Served with nasi lemak or plain rice.
